Pure product is white crystal, insoluble in water, soluble in formaldehyde,and other organic solvents. The melting point is 7.7~77.6ºC. It is easily decomposed in plants and is easily decomposed by microorganisms in soil. It is more stable in normal temperature storage. It is easy to decompose when encountering alkaline substances. Rain 3 to 4 hours after application will reduce the application effect.

How to use?

 It has auxin activity. Foliar spraying works best. It can be transported faster in the plant and can be transported to the whole body even if it is treated locally. It degrades faster in plants. It can induce the production of endogenous ethylene and promote the formation of separation layer. Mainly used in citrus fruits and vegetables, promote citrus fruit ripening, and have the effect of improving fruit quality.

Test
In order to find out the effective measures to overcome the off-year of this variety, the author used indole ester to treat orange in 1987.
The test tree is about 30 years old, the citrate orange anvils, and there are 5 treatments: 100 and 200ppm of the ripened ester are sprayed once each (sprayed on June 26, 50 days after blooming), 100 and 200ppm of the liquid are sprayed twice each (the first time is the same as the second time on July 30, 84 days after blooming). The liquid was 20% indole ester emulsion diluted with water 2000 times and 1000 times, and the whole leaves were wet with a single tube sprayer.
The results showed that on June 26, the second physiological fruit dropping period, the fruit thinning effect of spraying indol was significant, and the fruit thinning rate of 100ppm solution was 21.59%, and that of 200ppm solution was 35.06%, indicating that the fruit thinning effect was positively correlated with the concentration. After 1 week of spraying, a large number of young fruits began to turn yellow and fall off, and the peak of fruit dropping lasted for about 1 week, and the fruit dropping basically stopped at about 21 days after spraying. There was no significant difference in fruit thinning effect between spraying with ripen ester once and spraying twice on July 30, when the fruit was expanding.
According to field observation, the fruit coloring of treated trees was 3-5 days earlier than that of control trees, and the color ratio and color index were significantly improved. Among them, spraying 200ppm liquid twice has the best coloring effect, only spraying once in the physiological fruit falling stage also has a significant effect on promoting coloring. According to the post-harvest measurement, the fruit shape and weight of single fruit increased (134.3 g in the control group and 135.4~154.5 g in the treatment group), and the fruit size was uniform, with no extremely large or deformed fruit. The contents of soluble solids, total sugars, reducing sugars and acids in the treated fruits tended to increase, especially when 200ppm liquid was sprayed twice, the soluble solids increased by more than 1% compared with the control. Vitamin C content, edible rate, fruit juice rate, etc., seemed to have no effect or no obvious effect. In addition, according to the storage comparison test, the storage ability of fruit treated with indole ester was better than that of control.
After the use of ripened ester has little effect on the annual yield, which may be due to its low concentration and light fruit thinning.
