Indoleacetic acid is an organic compound. The pure product is colorless leaf-like crystals or crystalline powder. It turns rose color when exposed to light. Melting point 165-166ºC (168-170ºC). Easily soluble in absolute ethanol ether . Insoluble in benzene. Insoluble in water, its aqueous solution can be decomposed by ultraviolet light, but is stable to visible light. Its sodium and potassium salts are more stable than the acid itself and are easily soluble in water. Easily decarboxylated to 3-methylindole (skatole). It has a dual nature on plant growth. Different parts of the plant have different sensitivities to it. Generally, the roots are larger than the buds than the stems. Different plants have different sensitivities to it.
Instructions
Performance Easily decomposes in light and air and is not storage resistant. Safe for humans and animals. Soluble in hot water, ethanol, slightly soluble in water, benzene ; stable in alkaline solution. When using pure crystals to prepare, first dissolve in a small amount of 95% alcohol, then add water to dissolve until appropriate quantity.
Usage Used as plant growth stimulant and analytical reagent. 3-Indoleacetic acid and 3-indoleacetaldehyde, 3-indoleacetonitrile, ascorbic acid and other auxin substances naturally exist in nature. The precursor of 3-Indoleacetic acid biosynthesized in plants is tryptophan. The basic function of auxin is to regulate the growth of plants. It not only promotes growth, but also inhibits growth and organ building. Auxin not only exists in a free state in plant cells, but can also exist as bound auxin that is firmly bound to biopolymers, etc. There are also auxins that form conjugates with special substances, such as indole acetyl asparagine, Indole acetate, indole acetylglucose, etc. This may be a way of storing auxin within cells and a way of detoxifying excess auxin.
function The ubiquitous natural auxin in plants is indoleacetic acid. Indoleacetic acid promotes the formation of the top bud ends of plant branches or buds, seedlings, etc. Its precursor is tryptophan. Indoleacetic acid is plant auxin. Auxin has many physiological effects, which are related to its concentration. Low concentrations can promote growth, while high concentrations can inhibit growth and even cause plant death. This inhibitory effect is related to whether it can induce the formation of ethylene. The physiological effects of auxin are manifested at two levels. At the cellular level, auxin can stimulate cambium cell division; stimulate branch cell elongation and inhibit root cell growth; promote xylem and phloem cell differentiation, promote cutting rooting, and regulate callus morphology. At the organ and whole-plant levels, auxin acts from seedling to fruit maturity. Auxin controls the reversible red light inhibition of mesocotyl elongation in seedlings; when indoleacetic acid is transferred to the lower side of the branch, it produces gravitropism of the branch; when indoleacetic acid is transferred to the backlight side of the branch, it produces phototropism of the branch ; Indoleacetic acid causes apical dominance; delays leaf senescence; auxin applied to leaves inhibits abscission, while auxin applied to the adaxial end of the abscission layer promotes abscission; auxin promotes flowering, induces the development of parthenocarpic fruits, and delays fruit maturity.
application Indoleacetic acid has broad spectrum and multiple uses, but it has not become a commonly used commodity because it is easily degraded in and outside plants. It is used to induce parthenocarpy and fruit setting in tomatoes in the early stage. During the flowering period, the flowers are soaked with 3000 mg/L liquid to form seedless tomato fruits and improve the fruit setting rate; it is the earliest application to promote rooting of cuttings. Soaking the base of the cuttings with 100~1000 mg/L of medicinal solution can promote the formation of adventitious roots of tea trees, gum trees, oak trees, metasequoia, pepper and other crops, and accelerate the speed of vegetative reproduction. Mix 1~10 mg/L of indole acetic acid and 10 mg/L of doxepin to promote rooting of rice seedlings. Spraying chrysanthemums with 25~400 mg/L liquid once (under a 9-hour photoperiod) can inhibit the emergence of flower buds and delay flowering. When Begonia grows under long sunlight, spray it once with a concentration of 10 minus 5 mol/L to increase the number of female flowers. Treating beet seeds promotes germination and increases root yield and sugar content.
